Miaflora Nursery and Gardens in Karragullen
Posted on Mar 10, 2012 in NurseriesA recent trip with a group from The West Australian Landscape Design Association (WALDA) to Miaflora in Karragullen was a real pleasure. The nursery and gardens are set in natural bush and the shade and protection of the Marri and Jarrah forest create a perfect environment for a secluded garden.
The gardens are actually surprisingly extensive and very generous in scale and proportion with some sections having real drama about them. Plant selection includes deciduous trees, mediterranean and shade loving varieties with splashes of colour from bougainvillea and hardy perennials. The style is a clever blend of rambling and classic formal elements. Arbours and artwork abound and a café and well stocked gift shop with artistic and quirky pieces makes it a worthwhile day out.
